The Bedroom sessions has begun, We're not cool is our number one!

Yep that's right folks, after much talking and twiddling thumbs. Tuckshop community Radio can finally announce that we have at last officially opened the Tuckshop Bedroom sessions. Trying to call upon all those fine weird individuals who have a passion for music and are able to condense some of their favourite tracks into some kind of mix, which you can all listen to....WELCOME

Mark Allain AKA We're Not Cool

Tuckshop Community Radio has had the pleasure of knowing the Brain child behind "We're not cool", for quite some time now. Infact there was a time where many a lazy hour would be spent checking out records, eating Ice creams and taking orders from a rather crazy paranoid headless chicken.

Sadly those days have now been consigned to the locker, however it's been pretty inpossible not to still be influenced by this fine gent, as quite frankly "We're not cool" is getting everywhere. From playing to sweaty packed dance floors all over the forever cool east of London, to even presenting a weekly radio show for The Ministry of Sound, it's fair to say that things look pretty good, and that perhaps he is now actually quite cool.

Being a regular listener to Tuckshop Community Radio, it wasn't too hard to pin him down for his latest mega mix, infact as always Mr Allain, was the prompt bad boy everyone knows and loves. He even had time to answer some questions for us which is pretty swell considering he'd just literally got back from playing in Hong Kong!

Hey Mark, hows it all going all good?

The "Living room sessions" part 5 with The Housewives

Once again it has taken an absolute age before this account has reached the genuine Tuckshop public. It seems that due to a busy schedule I barely have the time to do shave (8 weeks growth now sits on my face) let alone write about another exciting "Living room session".

However, one August evening, which now seems like an distant memory, I trekked off to the murkier side of Stoke Newington to meet and record with a young group of individuals working under the title of "The Housewives". Armed as always with my Trusty A to Z in one hand and my Mac in the other I followed the directions given, finally approaching a tall menacing block of flats, surrounded by dimly lit streets and an air of danger . Having arrived slightly early, I endured a short wait until I was greeted by my first Housewife (Nick), who welcomed me with open arms, beckoning me to follow him up some graffiti stained steps, with the promise of more Housewives waiting for me at the other end.
Quickly glancing behind me and realising my only other option was facing the prospect of hanging out in the cold with a group of bored, spotty hoodies, I duly obliged.

"I hope you can excuse the mess" Nick muttered as he slowly turned the key in his front door, "we've just got back from a short tour of the north". "
"Not a problem" I replied, wildly imagining what I could be confronted with....

It is fair to say that The Housewives have pretty much exploded onto the scene with not only ease but flamboyance. A band that came together as a "a bit of a laugh" has since lead to all members embarking on a whirlwind tour of satisfied crowds, record labels and a daily harassment from plenty of eager promoters desperate to get "The Housewives on their rosters.

Once we had all been formally introduced to one another and enjoyed a fine brew (put together by Nick's highly accommodating flat mate) propped up with Bakewell Tarts and some tasty biscuits which had been hand picked from Lydll. The Housewives got down to recording three of their numbers in a rather inventive acoustic ensemble ( a Chinese harp was even used!). They played, I nodded my head and even the neighbours participated by banging the walls in protest to the noise we were making.

The Housewives can be found at www.myspace.com/hellohousewives and their single cream is out now of filthy little angel records. Click to buy it here for £3.00!!!!
